Octree.faces uses a database of images of faces culled from the internet... some familiar, some obscure, to create a moving collage of faces. As well as looking on the large scale, at the pixellated collage they are making, the audience explores the database of faces by seeing whose face appears within the collage when they move themselves. Images include a public domain database of arrest mugshots of celebrities as well as a spectrum of faces selected for their colour value and composition.
Octree.faces was shown at the digital hub project office as part of 'exhibit 1', December 02-March 03.
Mysaic
Mysaic allows the audience to take their own picture by sending the installation an SMS text message from their mobile phone. These pictures then become utilised as the database of images the mosaic is made from.
Mysaic was shown in Clery's shop window as part of the St. Patricks day festival, 2004. This was curated by the City Arts Centre.
Todaytree
Todaytree connects to the web each morning and downloads a database of the day's news images which are used to make a 'topical' animated mosaic.
Todaytree was shown in The Galway Advertiser shop window as part of UNDO, the digital culture festival of Galway film Fleadh in August 2004.
